A Maternity Session at the Tea Tree Lakes, Byron Bay
I met Maggie and her boys for a maternity session down at the Three Lakes, a quiet spot just a stone’s throw from Byron Bay. It’s one of those places that feels calm and open, shaded tracks, still water, barefoot kids, and plenty of space to move. There was no plan to slow things down or pose. The kids explored, climbed, and wandered at their own pace. We followed them.
That’s always how I approach maternity sessions like this. Pregnancy doesn’t need to be separated from family life or styled into something else. It’s already part of it — held hands, small interruptions, and the quiet presence of a baby on the way. No one was asked to sit still or look at the camera. There was no pressure to perform. Just time to walk, pause, and be together. The most meaningful moments often happen in between, when nothing is being forced.
The Tea Tree Lakes felt like the right place for this season, simple, natural, and honest. A setting that let the family show up exactly as they are. These are the maternity sessions I love most. Grounded, connected, and full of movement. A way to document this chapter before everything changes again.
If this kind of session feels like you, I’d love to hear from you. You can get in touch via my contact page to chat about maternity or family session across the Gold Coast, Byron Bay and surrounds.
